How to light up the home study area
If in your home you have an area mainly used for study or work, you will already have
noticed how important it is to light it in the best way to feel comfortable and
focused, so as to make the time spent in this room as profitable as possible.
Some
activities such as reading, studying, computer work, require specific types of
lighting that guarantees the most adequate light to achieve optimum concentration.
But how do
you light up the office area or home study? Here are our tips to study and
always work in environments with the right light and the right atmosphere.
Light and productivity
Various
researches have shown that there is a direct relationship between light and
productivity. When our eyes receive the right amount of light, they do not
tire, we do not tend to feel tired and we are more active and receptive.
Therefore
adequate lighting allows us to be more productive and reduces the possibility
of annoying problems with eye tension and headaches.
Of course,
the idea is to work and study, taking advantage of natural light, which should
be frontal, to avoid areas of shadow and annoying reflections on the computer
monitor. Of course, this is not always possible, it is often necessary to use an
artificial light.
More light sources for optimal illumination of the office area
The best solution is certainly to combine a diffused and homogeneous ambient lighting,
which can easily be obtained with ceiling-mounted luminaires, with localized
lighting, a bedside lamp, or better yet, an adjustable track light that allows
us to point the light beam exactly where it is needed.
The ideal is
that the diffused lighting is indirect, therefore directed towards the walls or
the ceiling; in order to avoid reflections and even be able to create the right
atmosphere.
The most
suitable desk light is the one equipped with a flow regulator, a light that is
therefore dimmable and that can be adapted from time to time to the various
needs.
Warm light or cold light?
The color of
light is also very important; to study and work it is certainly more
appropriate to use lamps that produce natural or cold light, because they tend
to tireless of the view than warm lights, and infuse more energy and
concentration.
Attention to the computer monitor
Pay
attention to one of the most common errors when we talk about lighting in the
study area: Looking at the computer monitor in the dark can make the view very
tired, so it is advisable to place a light source near the screen, which allows
us to study and work without causing eye strain.
Password: functionality
Design is
always important but for the lighting of the study area it is certainly better
to focus on functionality. Then choose simple lighting fixtures, paying
attention to practicality and technical characteristics, rather than just the
aesthetic aspect.
The office-study area is, in fact, a place where you will have to maintain
concentration and where the right lighting can really make the difference.
