How to choose the most suitable LED light color
What color
of LED lights do you choose to light up a house, an office, or a restaurant? The
color of light is very important, especially when it comes to public places
where particular tasks are carried out or in which we want to create a specific
atmosphere.
We are now
all aware that LED lighting offers several advantages, but we know which color
is the most appropriate based on the use we need to make of it?
The colors of the LED light
To start we
can divide the light into warm or cold, we talk about warm light if the bulbs
tend to yellow and cold light for those that tend to blue.
The Hue or the color temperature of the light is measured in degrees Kelvin (K)
So the
Kelvins that are shown on the LED bulbs' labels, show us how that light will
look, the higher the Kelvin value the colder the light will be.
The 4 main colors of the LED light are:
·
Warm
light (2200-2700k)
·
Warm
white (3000-3500k)
·
Neutral
white (4000-4500k)
·
Cold
white (5000-6500k)
Each of
these lights are more suitable for certain activities and certain environments
then for others, we see some examples and uses.
The LED light and proper use based on color
Hot light
The warm
light creates a cozy atmosphere and is perfect for illuminating an area to
which we want to give a comfortable feel and where we want to promote
relaxation. Warm light is ideal in areas of the home used for rest, such as
bedrooms or the living room
Even in the
commercial sphere, warm light is useful to make customers feel relaxed and
create an intimate atmosphere; it will, therefore, be suitable for romantic
restaurants, bars, massage centers, and spas.
Neutral light
The neutral
light is undoubtedly the most versatile and adapts perfectly to a wide range of
activities and environments.
It has a
white, very natural shade, which allows it to be illuminated without altering
the perception of colors.
Just like
sunlight, it promotes a sense of well-being and energy and is ideal for
carrying out work activities.
At home it
is often used to light up environments such as the kitchen, where good vision
is essential, or places of study and work where you spend many hours on books
or computers and where you need to keep your concentration level high without
straining your eyes.
Neutral
light is also an excellent option for lighting commercial premises where it is
important to provide customers with a non-altered view of the product, such as
clothing stores.
Cold light
The cold
light has a blue hue, unnatural and generally not suited to the domestic
environment, it tends to change the real color perception.
It is often
used in public places related to health, where the efficiency and definition of
details, such as hospitals, clinics, and dental offices, are very important.
Of course
ours are only suggestions, there is no fixed rule regarding the choice of LED
color temperature. The psychological impact of the light shade is objective,
and affects our lives and the performance of different activities, but even
more so in domestic environments, everyone can safely rely on their own
preferences and needs.
